Allen returns to No. 1 in the BTGS Texas High School Football Top 10, followed by North Crowley and North Shore. See the Week 5 rankings.

Texas high school football gave us another statement-filled weekend. North Shore shut out a quality Atascocita team, Waxahachie continued its offensive surge, and both Richmond Randle and Smithson Valley scored more than 80 points. Cypress Ranch, meanwhile, suffered the only loss among last week’s BTGS Top 10.

After applying the BTGS 100-point system, Allen returns to the No. 1 position, North Crowley holds the No. 2 spot, and North Shore moves up to No. 3. This ranking is independently compiled by Between The Game Sports. It is not copied from any other poll.

How the BTGS system works

The 100-point score emphasizes what teams have done this season:

  • Current performance and record: 30 points
  • Strength of schedule and quality of wins: 25 points
  • Offensive and defensive efficiency: 20 points
  • Recent form and week-to-week improvement: 15 points
  • Program stability and championship readiness: 10 points

As the season progresses, on-field results carry more weight and preseason reputation carries less.

1. Allen (5–0)

Previous: No. 2 | Week 5: Defeated Princeton, 65–7

Allen did exactly what an elite team should do against an overmatched opponent, dominating Princeton from start to finish. The Eagles remain unbeaten, own quality wins over Duncanville and DeSoto, and reclaim the top spot because their complete season résumé remains the strongest in the BTGS system.

2. North Crowley (5–0)

Previous: No. 1 | Week 5: Defeated Crowley, 35–14

North Crowley handled its district business and remains one of the state’s most complete teams. The Panthers’ résumé includes a convincing victory over Duncanville, keeping them directly behind Allen and firmly in the championship conversation.

3. North Shore (5–0)

Previous: No. 4 | Week 5: Defeated Atascocita, 35–0

North Shore produced one of the weekend’s strongest results by holding Atascocita scoreless. The Mustangs move up one position and remain close enough to challenge Allen and North Crowley for the top spot.

4. Waxahachie (5–0)

Previous: No. 3 | Week 5: Defeated Skyline, 61–14

Waxahachie’s offense continues to overwhelm opponents. The Indians remain undefeated and dangerous, but the strength of the complete résumés belonging to Allen, North Crowley, and North Shore places Waxahachie fourth this week.

5. Richmond Randle (4–0)

Previous: No. 5 | Week 5: Defeated Dulles, 91–0

Ninety-one points will attract attention, but the zero matters just as much. Randle continues to demonstrate elite explosiveness and defensive control. The Lions stay fifth because the teams above them have deeper résumés, not because anything was missing from this performance.

6. Smithson Valley (4–0)

Previous: No. 6 | Week 5: Defeated Cedar Creek, 84–7

Smithson Valley has been remarkably consistent. The Rangers have the balance, discipline, and championship experience to compete with anyone in the state, and another dominant win keeps them firmly inside the top six.

7. Katy (5–0)

Previous: No. 7 | Week 5: Defeated Cinco Ranch, 30–3

Katy’s identity continues to travel: control the game, defend, and make opponents earn everything. The Tigers have allowed only 13 points across their last two games and remain an unbeaten contender.

8. Ridge Point (5–0)

Previous: No. 8 | Week 5: Defeated Clements, 40–3

Ridge Point continues to stack convincing wins without giving opponents much room to breathe. The Panthers remain unbeaten and are building one of the strongest defensive profiles in the rankings.

9. DeSoto (3–2)

Previous: No. 10 | Week 5: Defeated Midlothian, 52–6

DeSoto’s early record is imperfect, but the Eagles are trending in the right direction. A 46-point win shows that this team is finding its rhythm, and the strength of its schedule keeps the Eagles ahead of several unbeaten teams with lighter résumés.

10. Frisco Lone Star (4–0)

Previous: Not ranked | Week 5: Defeated Melissa, 35–30

Frisco Lone Star enters after surviving a serious road test against Melissa. The Rangers remain unbeaten, and winning a tight district game showed the composure that matters when competition gets stronger. Their consistency and 4–0 start earn them the final position.

Entering and leaving

Entering: Frisco Lone Star
Leaving: Cypress Ranch

Cypress Ranch falls out after losing 31–14 to Bridgeland. One loss does not erase the Mustangs’ strong start, but the BTGS system rewards current results and leaves little margin for error near the bottom of a statewide Top 10.

First five out

  1. Duncanville (3–2) — defeated Red Oak, 42–0
  2. Coppell (4–1) — defeated Pearce, 55–10
  3. C.E. King (4–1) — defeated Crosby, 45–3
  4. Cypress Ranch (3–1) — lost to Bridgeland, 31–14
  5. South Oak Cliff (2–2) — defeated Wilson, 63–14

Final word

The top four are separated by only three BTGS points, so the No. 1 position is far from settled. Allen holds the chair this week, but North Crowley, North Shore, and Waxahachie remain close enough to change the order with one statement result.
