Allen remains No. 1 and North Crowley rises to No. 2 in the BTGS Texas High School Football Top 10. See the complete Week 8 rankings.
Week 7 delivered the head-to-head result the BTGS rankings needed. North Crowley defeated previously unbeaten Waxahachie 42–17, earning the Panthers a move to No. 2. Allen stays No. 1 after overwhelming McKinney 70–3, while North Shore remains unbeaten but moves to No. 3 after surviving Summer Creek 28–27.
C.E. King enters the Top 10 following a 70–6 victory over Humble. DeSoto won again, but the Eagles move to the first five out because C.E. King’s current record, recent form and efficiency produced the stronger BTGS score.

How the BTGS system works

The BTGS 100-point score evaluates:

  • Current performance and record: 30 points
  • Strength of schedule and quality wins: 25 points
  • Offensive and defensive efficiency: 20 points
  • Recent form and week-to-week improvement: 15 points
  • Program stability and championship readiness: 10 points

The ranking is independently compiled by Between The Game Sports. External polls are not copied, and preseason reputation carries less weight each week.

1. Allen (6–0)

Previous: No. 1 | Defeated McKinney, 70–3

Allen returned from its open week with complete control. The Eagles scored 70, allowed only three and continue to own the strongest overall résumé in the BTGS system.

2. North Crowley (6–0)

Previous: No. 3 | Defeated Waxahachie, 42–17

North Crowley produced the weekend’s most important result. Beating the previously unbeaten No. 4 team by 25 points gives the Panthers another high-quality win and moves them directly behind Allen.

3. North Shore (7–0)

Previous: No. 2 | Defeated Summer Creek, 28–27

North Shore showed championship resilience by rallying and blocking a late extra point to preserve the win. The Mustangs remain unbeaten, but North Crowley’s decisive quality victory was enough to create a one-position change.

4. Richmond Randle (6–0)

Previous: No. 5 | Defeated Iowa Colony, 49–7

Randle continues to dominate opponents on both sides of the ball. Another 42-point victory moves the Lions into the top four and keeps pressure on the three unbeaten 6A powers above them.

5. Smithson Valley (6–0)

Previous: No. 6 | Defeated Austin Anderson, 42–7

Smithson Valley remains one of the state’s most consistent teams. The Rangers handled another opponent comfortably, and their balance and championship experience move them into the top five.

6. Katy (7–0)

Previous: No. 7 | Defeated Morton Ranch, 69–6

Katy delivered its second consecutive blowout and continues to improve offensively. The Tigers remain unbeaten, physical and positioned to climb when their schedule provides another major test.

7. Ridge Point (7–0)

Previous: No. 8 | Defeated Fort Bend Elkins, 61–7

Ridge Point has quietly assembled one of the cleanest résumés in the state. The Panthers are 7–0 and have combined explosive scoring with a defense that rarely gives opponents room to recover.

8. Frisco Lone Star (6–0)

Previous: No. 9 | Defeated Frisco Heritage, 69–7

Lone Star follows a 62-point performance with 69 more. The Rangers remain unbeaten and continue to strengthen their efficiency and recent-form scores with decisive district victories.

9. Waxahachie (5–1)

Previous: No. 4 | Lost to North Crowley, 42–17

Waxahachie takes the largest drop of the week, but the Indians remain inside the Top 10 because of their strong 5–0 start and overall résumé. The response to their first loss will determine how quickly they can climb again.

10. C.E. King (6–1)

Previous: Not ranked | Defeated Humble, 70–6

C.E. King earns its way into the rankings by pairing a 6–1 record with another dominant performance. The Panthers’ only loss was a three-point game against Cypress Ranch, and their recent results now outweigh DeSoto’s stronger schedule but less consistent record.

Entering and leaving

Entering: C.E. King
Leaving: DeSoto

DeSoto defeated Lancaster 28–7 and remains a dangerous team. However, the BTGS formula rewards the complete current résumé, and C.E. King’s 6–1 record and 64-point victory produced the higher Week 8 score.

First five out

  1. DeSoto (4–2) — defeated Lancaster, 28–7
  2. Duncanville (4–2) — defeated Mansfield, 45–7
  3. South Oak Cliff (4–2) — defeated Seagoville, 61–14
  4. Cypress Ranch (5–1) — defeated Fulshear, 24–7
  5. Coppell (5–1) — defeated Plano, 26–10

Final word

North Crowley made the strongest statement, but Allen still owns the deepest complete résumé. North Shore proved it can survive pressure, while unbeaten Randle, Smithson Valley, Katy, Ridge Point and Lone Star continue making the middle of the rankings increasingly difficult to separate.
